The problem
Desmond is planting a church in a neighborhood where almost nobody has been to one. He was trained in language his neighbors do not speak. Every time he opened his mouth he heard himself using words that made sense in seminary and nowhere else. He was building the exact thing he was trying to avoid.
Solution
He scans the passage he is teaching and reads the plain version first. It catches the insider language before he says it out loud. Not to water it down, to actually reach the room he is standing in.
He also tells the people who show up to scan it themselves. When someone new is trying to follow along on a Tuesday, they get it explained right then instead of waiting until Sunday for him to do it.
